Lawson Cup Round 5 Update

By Tim Holland

The fifth and final regular round of this year's Lawson Cup competition was played on Wed 24 Jun 15 with all the games in Group 2.

With play off places at stake Group 2 went right to the wire in a thrilling day of Army Rugby League.

The table topping Sappers travelled to Catterick to take on the RAC, with the latter knowing that a win was required to give them any chance of making the play offs. Sadly the Sappers were determined to finish the Group stages un-beaten, running out 10-48 winners.

In the day's other game the Gunners travelled to Aldershot to take on bottom of the table RAPTC/AMS. The game went the way of the form book and the Gunners booked their place in the Semi-Final Play Offs with a 24-74 victory.

So the Semi-Final Play-Offs, to be played on Wed 8 Jul 15, look like:

Semi Final 1 REME v RA in Bordon 1430 KO.

Semi Final 2 RE v RLC in Wimbish 1430 KO.

Congratulations to all the teams for progressing into the Semi-Finals.
