The Sappers are the 2015 Lawson Cup Champions after a thrilling 26-22 win over the Gunners at Odsal Stadium, home of the Bradford Bulls.

The 2015 Lawson Cup competition came to an end on Sun 19 Jul 15 with the final played at the iconic Odsal Stadium between old rivals the Corps of Royal Engineers and the Royal Regiment of Artillery.

The Gunners opened their account first, scoring a converted try on 15 minutes, before quickly following it up with a successful penalty kick.

This sparked the Sappers into action and, fired up, they finally started to convert pressure into points. Two converted tries put them 12-8 up on 30 minutes before the Gunners added a further penalty kick.

The Sappers then put in a devasting final 5 minutes of the 1st half, scoring 10 un-answered points to go into the break 22-10 ahead.

The 2nd half started well for the Sappers as they quickly stretched their lead out to 26-10 with an un-converted try.

A response was needed by the Gunners and respond they did. Two converted tries got them right back into the game, despite a number of mistakes that were costing them in both terrority and possession.

However with the clock ticking down the Gunners had run out of time and, when the ref blew the final whistle, the score was 26-22 to the Sappers.

It had been a fantastic final, showcasing the best of Army Rugby League, in front of what became a record-breaking Championship crowd for the Bradford Bulls.
