1 LANCS win UK North Inter Unit 9s

The UK North Sport RL 9s Competition was held at 21 Engineer Regiment, Claro Barracks, Ripon on Wed 29 Apr 15, by the kind permission of the Commanding Officer.

The competition format was played as a league, with each unit playing a total of 5 games. Once all league fixtures had finished, both the top 2 Major Unit teams & Minor Unit teams played a straight final.

The following units took part:

Major Units

• 1st Battalion the Lancashire Regiment
• 9 Regiment Army Air Corps
• 5th Regiment Royal Artillery
• Royal Air Force Leeming

Minor Units

• Defence School of Transport (Leconfield)
• 5 Medical Regiment

The competition results were as follows:

• Major Unit Winners - 1st Battalion the Lancashire Regiment
• Major Unit Runners-up - 5th Regiment Royal Artillery
• Minor Unit Winners - Defence School of Transport (Leconfield)
• Minor Unit Runners-up - 5 Medical Regiment

The overall league positions after 15 matches where as follows:

• 1st - 1st Battalion the Lancashire Regiment
• 2nd - 5th Regiment Royal Artillery
• 3rd - Defence School of Transport (Leconfield)
• 4th - 5 Medical Regiment
• 5th - 9 Regiment Army Air Corps
• 6th - Royal Air Force Leeming
